2019 Antwerp Classic Salon - Antwerpen (B)

Opel's 5/12 horsepower car was the entry-level model in a surprisingly elaborate model range from 1911 till 1920. It was produced in 4 series and regarded as the car that helped motorize Germany. The tourer model was affectionately referred to as "Puppchen"(little doll) but the open 2-seater model was the most affordable in the range.
The car shown here is from the last series (1916-1920) and powered by a 1,5 Liter 4-cylinder engine lubricated by an oil pump. Previous versions had old-fashioned splash lubrication. Because this engine produced 14.5 actual horsepower instead of the original 12 of the first series it's also referred to as the 5/14 PS model.
