Veritas Nurburgring 2 Liter L3 coupe by Spohn 1952
2019 InterClassics - Maastricht (NL)

The last luxury cars presented by renown German sports car manufacturer Veritas were the 2 Liter types K and L. They were built in a converted pit box at the Nurburgring circuit and the location became part of the brand name in 1951. Like the preceding Saturn and Scorpion models the types K and L were fitted with the 2-Liter 6-cylinder Heinkel engine, which produced 100 hp in standard trim. They were available with open or closed 3 or 5 seater bodies by Spohn, where the type K was the cabriolet and the type L the coupe version. Apparently only 20 cars were made in total, including racing cars, from 1951 until the end in 1953.
It's said that some of the last cars were fitted with more pedestrian engines from the Ford Taunus or Opel Olympia because the Heinkel engines were no longer available. Just 4 cars were made with the L3 (3 seater coupe) body style shown here.
