Maserati 3500 GTI by Touring modified 1962
2017 Classic Days Schloss Dyck - Aldenhoven (D)

An odd version of the Maserati 3500 GT with injection engine (VIN 101-2506): the front and rear end are modified and look completely different than usual. And additional vent windows have been installed in the doors. Who made the modifications is not quite clear but the front and rear are clearly inspired by newer designs of the time. The front bears some similarities to the Aston Martin DB 5 (introduced in 1963) while the rear appears like the Maserati Sebring Series 1 (the replacement of the 3500 GT introduced in 1962). I guess the extra vent windows were a practical solution added to reduce draft.
The result of the modifications, possibly intended as a modernization of an already outdated design, is not quite balanced but certainly surprising and interesting.
