Wendler was a renown coach builder, established as early as 1840 in Reutlingen, Germany. Perhaps best known for producing the body of the iconic Wanderer W25 K roadster. In the postwar era the company mainly concentrated on repair jobs and constructing bodywork for commercial vehicles and fire engines, but they also made armored cars. A small number of special designs like this cabriolet were made up to the 1960s, mostly built to order on separate chassis. Wendler also made about 20 aluminum bodies for Porsche for the 550 spider. The company went out of business in 2000.
