Unlike most of his Italian contemporaries designer Giovanni Savonuzzi was more engineer than stylist. He was best known as an specialist in aerodynamics and he may be the one who introduced tailfins in car design. Best known for his work for Cisitalia in the late 1940s and early 1950s he moved on to Carrozzeria Ghia in 1952 where he designed a number of custom bodies and aerodynamic studies. In 1957 he moved to the US to work for Chrysler.
Savonuzzi worked only 10 years as a designer. But during that period he created a number of interesting cars, like the one shown here. There were 7 made of this specific design (out of a batch of 12), all differing in details. This is chassis no. 1903, one of the later ones. But my all-time favorite Savonuzzi design remains the Supersonic coupe, an expertly proportioned jet-age style sports car: www.ritzsite.nl/Archive/1009.htm
