Marendaz Special 13/70 HP sports tourer 1933
2018 InterClassics - Maastricht (NL)

The typically British sporting cars built by D.M.K. Marendaz have been nearly forgotten but once had a small but enthusiastic following in the UK. Cars were built in small numbers under the Marendaz (Special) name from 1925 till 1936. In total 86 were made. Most were fitted with 6 cylinder engines by Continental Motors from the USA. Other options were models with British Anzani or Coventry Climax engines.
This 13/70 HP model has a 1869 cc 6 cylinder Continental engine, offering up to 70 hp. There were also supercharged versions available with 85 or 90 hp. Typical for this model are the external exhaust manifolds, very fashionable among sportscars of that time.
