Vixen GT 1964
2015 Antwerp Classic Salon - Antwerpen (B)
The Vixen GT is a one-off mid-engined racing car built by British racing driver Ian Stronach. It has a space frame chassis and a light weight aluminum body of which the front section came from a Cooper Jaguar. It was raced in Britain in 1964, first with a 1600 cc 4-cylinder engine and later with a Buick V8 behind the front seats. Competition from the similarly configured but more advanced Lola Mk 6 meant it's success was limited.
After a painstaking restoration in Belgium by the current owner the car is now ready to take to the track again. It's scheduled to have a shake-down in Britain by the original constructor in the summer of 2015. At least it already looks beautiful.
