It may look like a BMW but it is its communist brother, the EMW. After WW2 BMW's Eisenach factory was under Russian control and became part of the German Democratic Republic. Some pre-war BMW models were produced well into the 1950s under the Eisenacher Motoren Werk banner, distinguished by the red-and-white propellor emblem.
In later years the factory produced Wartburg cars with 2-stroke engine as part of the IFA concern and nowadays it's part of Opel.
