Another Canadian-built full-size Pontiac available in Europe was the Parisienne.  The Parisienne was more or less the counterpart of the American Catalina model, but its interior trim was more luxurious and its bodywork sported different design details. Like I said on the last page, the Parisienne was slotted in just over the Laurentian in the Pontiac export model hierarchy. In base form it had about the same specifications as the Laurentian, but it offered an additional V8 option that boasted a more powerful 8 cylinder engine, an automatic transmission, power steering and power assisted brakes.

1966_Pontiac_Parisienne_4-door_SedanCanadian Parisienne models that didn't make it to Europe were the 4-door sedan and the Sport coupe. It's hard to imagine how this selection was made because pillared sedans were far more accepted in Europe than the hardtop Sport sedan version Pontiac offered while the attractive Sport coupe probably would have attracted more buyers than the slightly exotic convertible coupe which was available.

1966_Pontiac_Parisienne_Sport_CoupeAdditional V8 units only available to the Canadian car buyers were the 327 cid (5,358 cc) Astro-Flame engine with 275, the 396 cid (6,489 cc) Astro-Jet engine offering 325 hp and the mighty 427 cid (6,997 cc) Jet-Flame engine in 390 and 425 hp versions. These big gas guzzlers were not deemed appropriate for Europe where gas was so much more expensive.
